Are you interested in gaining experience of the challenging area
of mental health dietitics? New funding means we can appoint an
additional dietitian to help provide clinical services for our
local mental Health Trust. Nottinghamshire Healthcare is committed
to being a leading provider of mental health and learning
disability services and to recognising their clients physical as
well as mental health needs. Dietetics is highly valued within the
Trust and you would be warmly welcomed in all mental health
settings as you work with the multi professional team to improve
the nutritional care of vulnerable clients.
Working with three other dietitians, from a base at Highbury
Hospital, you would visit acute hospital and community settings
around Nottinghamshire, providing dietetic support for people
affected by mental health issues. This will include adolescents
with eating disorders plus adults with learning disabilities and
other mental health concerns. Dietetic support has a significant
impact on mental and physical health wellbeing and implementation
of NICE guidelines on Nutrition Support means nutrition has a
higher profile than ever. Current work includes the implementation
of MUST screening in all care settings, assessment and support for
home enterally fed adults, teaching and advising staff and clients.
As the team continues to develop, you will be able to work
innovatively while providing high quality holistic care and have
the flexibility to gain experience in other clinical areas.
Applicants should have experience of dietetic and nutrition
support, excellent communication skills and a desire to work with
people. Experience of nutrition support is essential but you have
will have support from experienced senior dietitians as you apply
your skills in a mental health setting. Our large, friendly
department of about 70 staff strongly supports continuing personal
and professional development, including financial support for
courses such as PENG, Behaviour Change Training and attendance at
Mental Health Group meetings. We have close links with the
University of Nottingham and take student dietitians for B and C
placements.

New funding enables us to offer two fixed term band 6 dietetic
posts based at our large acute teaching hospital, one working with
children and one with adults. Initially for one year, both posts
will involve work with inpatients and outpatients, including
support for our innovative home enteral tube feeding outreach team.
You will work alongside more experienced clinical lead Dietitians
to support a challenging case load of vulnerable clients and their
carers. Once settled into your role, you will also have
opportunities to be involved in service development, education and
clinical governance.
We are looking for dietitians with excellent communications
skills, relevant experience and a flexible approach who want to
gain experience of work in a large acute teaching hospital. We
would welcome applications from Dietitians who want to work towards
a specialist role and will consider part time applicants. Nutrition
is high on the Trust’s agenda and Dietitians are valued members of
the multi professional team. The Hospital’s Nutrition Steering
Committee is committed to ensuring excellent nutritional care for
all patients, currently focussing on the extension of screening
across the whole Trust, nutrition bench marking and the
implementation of consistent best practise in all areas of
nutritional care. Our large, friendly department of about 70 staff
strongly supports continuing personal and professional development,
including financial support for courses such as PENG, Paediatric
Course Modules and Behaviour Change Training. We have close links
with the University of Nottingham and take student dietitians for
A, B and C placements. The Service has excellent IT facilities and
a dedicated group of non registered staff who help provide dietetic
support.
