Specialist Macmillan Dietitian (Band 7)

Specialist Macmillan Dietitian (Band 7)
Salary scale: £29,091 – 38,352
Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Dietitian to work with an Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist in providing pro-active supportive care focused on Cachexia, Anorexia and Related Experiences (e.g. fatigue, sleep and mood disturbance). You will be able to explore the place of dietetics in multiprofessional pallative care support and gain significant experience in research and evaluation as well as clinical support. This new multiprofessional CARE team will be fully integrated into the existing Lung Cancer and Palliative Care services, with dedicated medical input from two consultants in Palliative Medicine. You will work mostly with out patients, visiting people in hospital and community settings and have professional links to the dietetic community outreach team. This project is supported by Macmillan Cancer Support through a three year project grant to fund a coordinated multidisciplinary service for people with lung cancer and mesothelioma. The project aims to understand the supportive care needs of this group of people, maximise function and independence by offering the best available evidence-based care. There will be a continuous process of evaluation to review and improve the care offered, aiming to develop a model of care that will be rolled out to other centres and people with other types of cancer.

Applicants should have significant experience of working as a dietitian, excellent communication skills and relevant clinical knowledge including experience of nutritional support. Our large, friendly department supports personal development and takes an active role in training others, including student dietitians. Macmillan support is also available for the team, including training and professional development.  Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest in the UK with an annual budget of more than £500 million, enjoying close links with the City's Universities and attracting the highest calibre of staff.
